1 Nadaswaram player Seshampatti Sivalingam honoured with Sangeet Kala Vibhushan Lifetime Achievement Award
Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan presented the Sangeet Kala Vibhushan Lifetime Achievement Award to renowned nadaswaram player Seshampatti Sivalingam in Mumbai. The event was organised by Sri Shanmukhanand Lalit Kala and Sangeet Sabha. During the event, Mr. Radhakrishnan also presented scholarships of Rs 1 lakh each to 50 young nadaswaram players. The scholarships are given to preserve musical instruments and support the players.

3 UN allocates $100 million for humanitarian crises in 10 countries
The United Nations has allocated $100 million from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to address critical humanitarian needs in 10 countries across Africa , the Middle East, Asia, and the Caribbean . Acting UN humanitarian chief Joyce Msuya stressed the dire need for this funding, saying a lack of resources is hindering aid agencies from delivering essential life-saving assistance. Yemen ($20 million) and Ethiopia ($15 million) : These countries are receiving more than a third of the total funding. Yemen is entering its 10th year of civil war, while Ethiopia is facing internal conflict and ethnic insurgency. Myanmar ($12 million), Mali ($11 million), Burkina Faso ($10 million), Haiti ($9 million), Cameroon ($7 million), and Mozambique ($7 million) : Funds are earmarked for humanitarian operations in these regions plagued by long-term conflict and climate-related issues. Burundi ($5 million) and Malawi ($4 million) : These countries are facing severe food insecurity due to drought and flooding caused by El Niño.

5 Hurun India Rich List 2024: Mumbai becomes Asia’s billionaire capital
According to the Hurun India Rich List 2024 , India’s financial capital Mumbai has emerged as the ” billionaire capital of Asia “, where Mumbai has more billionaires than China ‘s capital city Beijing . In such a situation, the number of billionaires in Mumbai increased by 58, taking the number of billionaires in the list to 386. According to the report, the Hurun India Rich List 2024 has been released on (August 29). In which it has been told that 25% of Asia’s billionaires are home to Mumbai. In this sense, this city has emerged as the new capital of billionaires across Asia. This city has surpassed China’s capital Beijing in this matter. After Mumbai, Delhi comes in the list of the richest cities of Hurun India Rich Listers 2024, which has added 18 new billionaires, taking its rich list to 217. The list further states that India has also overtaken China in terms of billionaires. According to the list, India witnessed a 29 per cent increase in the number of billionaires, while China witnessed a 25 per cent drop in the number of billionaires.
6 RBI imposes fine on UCO Bank and Cent Bank Home Finance Ltd
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a fine of Rs 2.68 crore on UCO Bank for violating certain provisions including opening of current accounts, interest rate on deposits and fraud classification. The central bank gave this information. RBI has also imposed a fine of Rs 2.1 lakh on Cent Bank Home Finance Limited for non-compliance with certain provisions of Know Your Customer (KYC) instructions .
7 Mastercard launches Payment Passkey service in India
Mastercard has globally launched its Payment Passkey service in India, aimed at enhancing the security and convenience of online shopping . Introduced at the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai , the service, which was initially launched with Indian payments leaders such as Juspay, Razorpay and PayU, as well as banks such as Axis Bank , leverages biometric authentication – replacing traditional passwords and OTPs with more secure fingerprint or facial recognition methods. The service addresses the rapid growth of 300% in online fraud cases in India in the last two years, by providing a seamless, tokenised payment process, ensuring that payment details remain secure.

11 Maharaja Trophy-KSCA T20 2024: Mysore Warriors beat Bangalore Blasters by 45 runs to win the trophy
Mysore Warriors defeated Bangalore Blasters by 45 runs in the final match of Maharaja Trophy-KSCA Twenty20 2024. This was the third edition of the Maharaja Trophy . Bangalore Blasters won the toss and invited Mysore Warriors to bat first. Mysore Warriors scored 207 runs in the stipulated twenty overs, in response to which the Bangalore Blasters team could score only 162 runs.
