Madhya Pradesh High Court: In a petition filed against non-payment for the services rendered during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and Anuppur Assembly by-elections and to seek to address the lack of response from the responsible authorities, a single-judge bench comprising of Anand Pathak, J., issued notice to the Election Commission and others.

The petitioner, a resident of Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, was contracted to erect tents during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and the Anuppur Assembly by-elections. Despite fulfilling his contractual obligations, the petitioner claimed that he had only received Rs 8 lakh out of the total Rs 64 lakh owed to him for his services. The petitioner contended that he made representations to the State Law Department, Chief Electoral Officer, and District Election Officer regarding the non-payment, but no action was taken.

The Court issued the notices to ensure that the concerned authorities respond to the allegations of non-payment and explain their actions or inactions regarding the representations made by the petitioner. The next hearing is scheduled for July.
