The 14th Padma Vibhushan N. A. Palkhivala Memorial National Moot Court & Research Paper Competition organised by Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai in collaboration with the All-India Federation of Tax Practitioners – West Zone, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal Bar Association, Mumbai, and SCC Times was officially completed on 20th October, 2024.

The valedictory ceremony of the 14th Padma Vibhushan N. A. Palkhivala Memorial National Moot Court & Research Paper Competition, 2024, concluded on a high note, celebrating the achievements of bright legal minds from across the country. The event was graced by the presence of distinguished legal luminaries, including Hon’ble Justice Abhay Ahuja, Additional Judge, Bombay High Court, and Hon’ble Justice Dr. Neela Gokhale, Additional Judge, Bombay High Court, who shared their wisdom and insights with the participants.

The ceremony also saw the attendance of renowned figures from the legal fraternity, such as Adv. Narayan P Jain, National President of AIFTP; Adv. K Gopal, Vice-President of the ITAT Bar Association, Mumbai; Dr. K. Sivaram, Senior Advocate, Bombay High Court; and Asst. Prof. Amit Kumar, Amana Khare and Dr. Sampada Kangane from MNLU Mumbai. Their addresses underscored the importance of fostering the advocacy and research skills of young law students through platforms like the moot court and research competitions. They emphasized that such initiatives play a crucial role in preparing future legal professionals by honing their analytical abilities and courtroom etiquette.

  • Best Researcher: Zeenat Tasnim, University of Calcutta, Department of Law

  • Winner: Varsha S, Sastra Deemed to be University, Thanjavur


  • Runner-Up: Ananiyasri R, Sastra Deemed to be University


  • Second Runner-Up: Sneha Ravindra Sadhwani & Pavan H Menon, Amity University, Mumbai

In addition to the award presentations, the valedictory ceremony featured an engaging panel discussion with esteemed panelists Adv. K Gopal, Vice President, ITAT Bar Association, Mumbai; Adv. Samir Jani, Vice-President, AIFTP, and Adv. Nikita Bhadeka. The panelists shared their invaluable insights on the evolving landscape of legal practice and the critical role of mooting in shaping proficient advocates. They discussed the significance of developing practical skills through such competitions, emphasizing the need for law students to engage with contemporary legal issues.
