The merger of Mewat Model Schools into the Education department has resulted in delayed salaries and ad-hoc employment for the 350-strong force of teaching and non-teaching staff. The Education department has also asked teachers hired after 2012 to clear the HTET exams to complete the eligibility criteria. The schools were previously managed by the Mewat Development Agency and affiliated with CBSE. The move has put around 7,500 students’ futures at risk while the teaching staff is considering protesting on the streets if the situation is not resolved.
