Meluri, a settlement of the Pochury Naga tribe, has been officially declared the 17th district of Nagaland . The state government has declared Meluri sub-division, part of Phek district, as a full-fledged district with immediate effect. Chief Secretary Dr J. Alam officially issued a notification to this effect on November 2. This will improve development and administrative system in the region.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar inaugurated India’s new Consulate General in Brisbane, Australia on Monday, November 4. Brisbane is Australia’s third largest city, located in Queensland State. Jaishankar arrived in Australia on Sunday, November 3 in the first leg of his two-nation visit. It will contribute to strengthening India’s relations with the state of Queensland, promoting trade, promoting educational relations. It will also contribute to serving the expatriate community. This is India’s fourth Consulate General in Australia . The other three are in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth .

India and Algeria signed MoU on bilateral defence cooperation . This will boost defence partnership and strategic interests between the two countries. The agreement was signed by Chief of Defence Staff- General Anil Chauhan and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army Saeed Chanegraha in the presence of army and officials . Algeria is officially called the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. It is a country in North Africa.

4 7th session of International Solar Alliance (ISA) begins​

The 7th session of the International Solar Alliance began on 4 November at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi . In this session, India has been elected as the President and France as the Co-President . Mr. Ashish Khanna of India was elected its third Director General. More than 120 countries and global partners attended this session. The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an international group of countries located between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. These are solar resource-rich countries called sunshine countries . ISA is a treaty-based intergovernmental organization aimed at bringing about a change in the field of solar energy. It aims to achieve energy security by emphasizing solar energy, a clean, climate-friendly and renewable energy resource. It was launched by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in November 2015 at COP-21 in Paris, France. Its headquarters is in Gurugram , Haryana , India . ISA is also called the International Agency for Solar Policies and Applications. More than 120 countries have signed the ISA Framework Agreement. The first summit of the International Solar Alliance was held in 2018 under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and then President of France Emmanuel Macron.

5 5th edition of Vietnam-India Bilateral Army Exercise (Winbex) 2024 begins in Ambala, Haryana​

The fifth edition of the Vietnam-India Bilateral Army Exercise ( Winbex ) 2024 began in Ambala , Haryana . Winbex 2024 aims to enhance the joint military capabilities of the two countries. This edition aims to significantly increase military level participation for the first time by Army and Air Force personnel of the two countries. The Indian Army contingent consists of 47 personnel, represented by a regiment of the Corps of Engineers as well as personnel from other arms and services.

6 FTII student film ‘Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know’ qualifies for Oscars in Live Action Short Film category​

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) student film “ Sunflowers Were First Ones to Know ” has qualified for the 2025 Oscars in the Live Action Short Film category . The short film is directed by FTII student Chidanand S Naik and won the first prize at the La Cinéfe selection of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. This has led to global recognition for this Kannada language project inspired by Indian folk tales and traditions. The film was made when Chidanand S. Naik was a student at FTII. It showcases the expertise of a talented team including Suraj Thakur (cinematography), Manoj V (editing) and Abhishek Kadam (sound design). The story of the film is both touching and serious, centering on an elderly woman who steals the village rooster, blocking the sunlight and resulting in turmoil in the community.



7 14th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship begins in Chennai​

The 14th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Championship is starting at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai . 31 teams will participate in this tournament which will run till 16th November. These teams have been divided into eight pools. In the league stage, each team will play against every team in its pool. The top team from each pool will make it to the quarter finals. The quarter final matches will be played on 31st November. The semi-final matches will be held on 15th November, while the final and third place match will be played on 16th November.

8 India’s Harmeet Desai won double title at World Table Tennis Feeder Caracas tournament in Venezuela​

India’s Harmeet Desai won the doubles title by winning the men’s singles and mixed doubles in the World Table Tennis Feeder Caracas tournament in Venezuela . In the mixed doubles, Desai and his partner Kritvika Roy defeated the Cuban pair of Jorge Campos and Daniela Fonseca Carrazana 3-2 in a tough match. Earlier, they entered the final by defeating China’s Wang Kaibo and Liu Xinran in straight sets. Harmeet Desai also performed brilliantly in men’s singles. He defeated France’s Joe Seyfried 3-0.

9 Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha announces retirement from cricket​

Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha has announced his retirement from cricket . He said that he will play for the last time in the current Ranji Trophy season. Wriddhiman Saha made his international debut in the year 2010. He has played 40 Tests and nine ODIs. Saha said in a social media post that it is an honour for him to represent West Bengal for the last time in the Ranji Trophy.
