New Delhi: If you’re preparing for any competitive examination, you’ve probably heard of Tanu Jain, Awad Ojha, Khan Sir, and Dr. Vikas Divyakirti. They are well-known teachers, commonly known as ‘Digital Gurus’, who have devoted their careers to helping students prepare for competitive exams. Speaking of gurus, Dr. Divyakirti is a popular teacher who helps students prepare for UPSC exams. His clear and interesting way of teaching has helped many students succeed.
Dr. Vikas Divyakirti is the founder and managing director of ‘Drishti IAS,’ an organization active in the Civil Services Preparation since 1999. He married Taruna Verma in 1998. She holds a PhD and is the Director of Drishti IAS. Known for her leadership, Dr. Verma plays an important role in the operations of the coaching institute, which is renowned for its UPSC preparation programs.
While talking about his educational and UPSC journey, Divyakirti pursued his Master’s degree in Hindi literature in 1995. Meanwhile, in 1996, he sat for the civil services examination and secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 384 in his first attempt. Although he was offered the position of CISF Commandant, he wasn’t interested in the role and, due to medical reasons, decided not to accept it. Instead, he joined the Ministry of Home Affairs as a desk officer. However, in 1997, he chose to leave this job to follow his passion for teaching.
At present, Dr. Vikas is actively involved as an educator in creating content for YouTube. He has a dream to see our society having a ‘Culture of Discourses’ wherein social-political issues are understood through free & constructive discussions and not by enforced consensus or herd mentality.
Divyakirti’s decision to resign from his position in the Ministry of Home Affairs was motivated by his passion for education, not a desire to continue in the civil service. At the time, he still had four attempts left for the UPSC exam, but he was already teaching at a college in Delhi. After leaving the ministry, he founded Drishti IAS in 1999, which has since become one of India’s top coaching institutes for UPSC aspirants.
According to media reports, Vikas Divyakirti’s net worth is estimated to be around Rs 200 crore (Rs 200,000,000), primarily due to his successful career as an educator and the growth of his coaching institute, Drishti IAS.
