Pooja Yadav, born on September 20, 1988, in a middle-income family in Sonipat, Haryana, finished her schooling in her hometown. She went on to earn a B.Tech degree in Biotechnology and later pursued an M.Tech in Food Technology and Management.
After completing her education, Pooja moved abroad to advance her career, working in Germany and Canada for some time. However, she eventually returned to India upon realizing that her efforts were contributing to the economy and development of a foreign country, rather than her own.
Her journey to success in the UPSC was not an easy one. After returning to India, Pooja started preparing for the civil services examination. To make ends meet, Pooja started doing various part-time jobs, including being a part-time receptionist and tutoring children.
Pooja faced a setback in her first attempt. However, this setback did not divert her from pursuing her goal of becoming a civil servant. It is said that hard work pays off and in 2018, Pooja cleared the UPSC Civil Services examination with an All-India Rank (AIR) of 174. She was accorded the Gujarat cadre.
Speaking of her UPSC marks, Pooja Yadav secured 854 marks in the written examination and 151 marks in the personality test. Overall, she scored 1005 marks.
Currently, IPS Pooja Yadav serves as the DCP Traffic in Rajkot City, Gujarat, earning widespread acclaim for her strict actions against traffic violators. IPS Pooja Yadav is married to IAS Vikalp Bhardwaj, a 2016-batch Kerala cadre IAS officer. The couple first met at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie, where they fell in love and later tied the knot on February 18, 2021.
