Hailing from Ajmer, Rajasthan, Anukriti Sharma is an IPS officer from the 2020 batch. Speaking of her personal life, her father was posted in the 20-point department while her mother was a teacher.

Now, talking about her educational journey, she completed her schooling at Indo Bharat International School in Jaipur and then pursued her undergraduate studies in BS-MS at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Kolkata.

However, Anukriti’s academic pursuits continued to soar to greater heights. In 2012, she pursued a Ph.D. at Rice University in Houston, Texas. During her research in the US, she received a prestigious job offer from NASA to study volcanoes, accompanied by an impressive salary of Rs 50 lakhs. However, driven by a deep desire to serve her country, Anukriti boldly decided to leave it all behind and move to her motherland India. Her determination bore fruit in 2014 when she secured 23rd place in the National Eligibility Test (NET) for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

In India, Anukriti and her husband, Vaibhav, embarked on their UPSC preparation journey together, supporting one another while residing in Banaras. Anukriti’s path to success was filled with challenges. In her first attempt in 2015, she cleared the prelims but couldn’t pass the mains. Her second attempt ended at the prelims stage. Undeterred by these setbacks, she persevered and reached the interview stage in her third attempt, only to face disappointment again.

It was in 2018, that Anukriti’s relentless determination bore fruit when she secured an impressive All India Rank 355th rank in the UPSC exam, earning her a place in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). But her journey didn’t end there. It was her fifth attempt in 2020, she achieved her ultimate dream of becoming an IPS officer. She was posted as an IPS trainee in Lucknow. At present, she is serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Police in Bulandshahr. Her husband, Vaibhav, who stood by her through every challenge, now mentors aspiring UPSC candidates at a coaching center in Delhi.
