Hailing from Karnaprayag, Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, Mudra Gairola has always been a good student. While her schooling is concerned, she scored 96% in the Class 10th examination and 97% in Class 12th. Notably, she was honored for her achievements by Kiran Bedi, the first woman IPS officer.
After completing her schooling, Mudra pursued a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at a medical college in Mumbai, where she was awarded the prestigious gold medal. Following her undergraduate studies, Mudra moved to Delhi to pursue a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) program.
Her father, Arun Gairola, who had appeared for the UPSC exam in 1973 but did not succeed, always hoped his daughter would follow in his footsteps and achieve the prestigious rank of an IAS officer.
Determined to honor her father’s aspiration, Mudra Gairola reportedly made the bold choice to leave her Master’s studies midway and focus entirely on preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Her journey was far from easy—after reaching the interview stage in her first attempt in 2018 but falling short, she faced further setbacks with unsuccessful attempts in 2019 and 2020. However, Mudra’s resilience and determination finally paid off in 2021 when she secured the 165th rank, achieving her goal of becoming an IPS officer and fulfilling her father’s lifelong dream.
Regarding her UPSC marks, Mudra Gairola secured 788 in the written examination and 184 in the personality test, achieving a total score of 972 in the UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021. She secured AIR 165 in the UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021.
Later in 2022, Mudra Gairola secured 835 in the written examination and 176 in the personality test, achieving a total score of 1011 in the UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2022. She secured AIR 53 in the UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2022 and became an IAS Officer.
