Cracking the prestigious UPSC examination is a tough task, and anyone who passes it demonstrates the knack and potential to handle any challenge that comes their way in life.

We are going to discuss the journey of IAS officer Hari Chandana Dasari, who is passionate about the environment and actively works on lake restoration and the revival of step wells in Hyderabad. She also encourages others to become activists for nature.

After completing her schooling in Hyderabad, Hari Chandana attended St. Ann’s for her undergraduate studies and later earned a postgraduate degree from the University of Hyderabad. She then went to the London School of Economics to pursue an MSc in Environmental Economics.

After her MSc program, she secured a job with the World Bank and also had the opportunity to work with BP Shell.

Although she was doing well in her career in London, her patriotism for Mother India compelled her to return with a desire to make a difference on the ground. Harichandana then decided to take the UPSC examination to bring about change.

Hari Chandana Dasari cleared UPSC examination in her second attempt in 2010 and was posted to the Telangana cadre as an IAS officer. She has served GHMC as Zonal commissioner for different zones.

She is currently working as special secretary to the government of Telangana in Roads and Building department.
