Sarfaraz’s story, which has gone viral through a video shared by PhysicsWallah founder Alakh Pandey, has inspired millions across India. His journey highlights the triumph of resilience, determination, and ambition in the face of overwhelming adversity.

“5 saal pahle Jo sapna hum logo ne dekha tha ki PW ko ek aisa platform banayenge jaha se bharat ke kone kone se bachhe apne sapne poore kar sake. For the past two years, Sarfaraz juggled strenuous physical labor, carrying 200-400 bricks daily, to support his family while relentlessly pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor. Despite enduring financial struggles and societal ridicule, Sarfaraz managed to balance his work schedule—laboring from 6 AM to 2 PM(8 hours) —before dedicating the rest of his day to studying for the NEET exam.

Sarfaraz endured numerous challenges while chasing his dream of becoming a doctor. He lived in a humble house built under the PM Awas Yojana, studied on the phone with a cracked screen, and prepared for exams in a home without a proper roof. His mother played a crucial role in his journey, often staying awake with him at night to provide warmth and encouragement, sacrificing her comfort to support his aspirations.

In 10th grade, Sarfaraz aspired to join the National Defence Academy (NDA), but financial hardships and an unforeseen accident derailed his plan. Determined not to give up, he shifted his focus to cracking the NEET exam during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by Alakh Pandey’s educational videos on YouTube, he began his preparation with limited resources.

Sarfaraz’s unwavering determination and hard work paid off when he cleared NEET 2024 and secured admission to Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College in Kolkata. His remarkable journey garnered widespread attention, particularly after Alakh Pandey, the founder of Physics Wallah, visited his modest home to extend support. Pandey pledged to cover Sarfaraz’s college fees, gifted him a new smartphone, and provided a Rs. 5 lakh loan for his studies.
