IPS Safin Hasan is one of the youngest Indian Police Service (IPS) Officers, who cracked the UPSC exam at the age of 22. Born in July 1995, Hasan completed his schooling at SKM High School in Palanpur, Gujarat. His aspiration to crack the UPSC exam was ignited when a collector visited his school, and he was deeply inspired by the respect and admiration that an IAS officer commands.

Safin faced numerous hardships growing up due to his family’s financial struggles. His parents worked in a diamond unit but lost their jobs in 2000. To make ends meet, his mother, according to media reports, worked as a cook in others’ homes, while his father carried bricks during the day. In the evenings, they set up a stall to sell boiled eggs.

Due to his family’s financial struggles, his school waived the fees for his 11th and 12th classes. When he enrolled in an engineering college, his relatives supported him with the tuition fees. In 2017, while heading to take the UPSC exam, Safin was severely injured in an accident. Despite his injuries, he still appeared for the exam and was later hospitalized, undergoing multiple surgeries and physiotherapy sessions. His perseverance and determination paid off when he secured an All-India Rank (AIR) of 570 in 2017. Despite these challenges, he persevered and overcame them, emerging victorious.
