Who is Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy?​


Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy hails from a small district of Telangana – Nagarkurnool district. eh was born to a teacher family. Both of his parents are mathematics teachers at a government school in Madgul.

He achieved a perfect 10/10 CGPA in Class 10 and scored 987/1000 in Class 12. As per his LinkedIn profile, Reddy is currently pursuing a BTech in Computer Science.

He secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in IIT JEE 2023, scoring impressive 341 out of 360, which is 94.74 percentile. After knowing his top rank, Reddy admitted that he was confident of finishing in the top 10.

Vavilala Reddy started preparing for JEE Advanced from Class 11. He mentioned that an early start for the competitive exam helped him gained the fundamental concepts in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics, creating a strong base for the rigorous exam.

His preparation revolved around three key components—practice, self-discipline, and deep understanding.

Like any achiever, the secret to Vavilala’s success lies in his “consistent hard work.” He followed a strict study schedule for four years, dedicating specific hours to studying and writing.

During his JEE preparation, he emphasised self-discipline and extensive study, avoiding distractions from social media for two years. This dedication and sacrifice earned him the top rank.

Reddy Credits His Success To His Family​


Reddy credits his success to his parents, mentors, and teachers, who supported and encouraged him during his preparations. In an interview, Reddy revealed that he also drew inspiration from his elder brother, who is in the final year of his BTech at BITS Pilani.

Reddy passionately advises that grasping concepts is far more critical than rote learning. He suggests that those preparing for JEE should focus on building a robust understanding of all subject matters. According to him, the winning trio of self-discipline, in-depth knowledge grasp, and consistent revision is key to acing any exam.
