In this context, let’s talk about IAS officer Abhishek Surana, who gave up a high-paying job overseas to clear the UPSC exam and become an Indian Administrative Service(IAS) officer, all to serve the motherland India.
Hailing from Rajasthan’s Bhilwara, Abhishek Surana studied Bachelor of Technology(B.Tech), Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Delhi. After graduating, Surana landed a lucrative corporate job with Barclays Investment Bank in Singapore. Furthermore, he worked for the same bank in London.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he is serving as District Collector and District Magistrate in Churu. Surana established his mobile-based app startup and began working in Chile. In 2014, he returned to India, which prompted him to commit to preparing for the civil services.
Abhishek Surana faced setbacks in his first two attempts at the UPSC exam, but he remained determined to pursue his dream. He ultimately succeeded in his third attempt, achieving a rank of 250. Surana then took the UPSC exam a fourth time and secured an impressive AIR 10. Previously, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Parishad in Jodhpur.
