The Andhra Pradesh government issued an order suspending senior IPS officer Vishal Gunni in connection with his alleged involvement in “hastily arresting” and “harassing” an actor-cum-model from Mumbai. The allegation against Gunni is that he allegedly harassed the actress without conducting a proper probe into a case filed against her. Notably, Vishal Gunni was serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Vijayawada) during the alleged incident.
After digging into the matter, it was found that he was allegedly involved in harassing the model, leading to his suspension. Alongside this, the state government didn’t spare two other senior IPS officers as well – they were put on suspension too. The woman stated her case, accusing the police officers of pressuring her in the former administration to withdraw a case; this case was lodged against a high-ranking official from a corporation based in Mumbai. If she failed to comply, the officers threatened her with severe consequences.
