This woman had a promising career as a dentist, having earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from Baba Jaswant Singh Research Institute in Ludhiana, Punjab. However, she had a deep passion for wearing the uniform and serving the nation. Driven by this desire, she chose to pursue the UPSC examination. She dedicated countless nights to studying, and her determination paid off. She cleared one of the world’s toughest exams—the UPSC—and became an IPS officer.

She is Navjot Simi, who transitioned from a dentist to an IPS officer, was born on December 21, 1987, in Gurdaspur, Punjab. By securing such a high-ranking position in her first attempt, she set an inspiring example, proving that anything is possible with determination. With over 1.1 million followers on Instagram, Navjot has become a role model for millions of young people today.

Cleared UPSC exam in first attempt without coaching


Driven by the passion to do something for the country, Navjot began preparing for the Civil Services Exam. Studying late into the night and staying motivated became a part of her daily routine. While many UPSC aspirants rely on expensive coaching, Navjot trusted in self-study and online resources, which paid off in her success.

Navjot’s hard work paid off, and she cleared the UPSC exam in her first attempt in 2018. Securing the 735th rank, Navjot was selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS) under the Bihar cadre. After training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, she received her first posting as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Patna. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in Navjot’s career.

During her service, Navjot has focused particularly on the safety of women and children. She is also quite active on social media, connecting with people through platforms like Instagram and Twitter. She frequently shares her travels and achievements, which has led to a growing number of followers on Instagram.

Her husband is also an IAS officer


Navjot’s husband, Tushar Singla, is also in administrative service. A 2015-batch IAS officer, Tushar secured the 86th rank in the UPSC exam and is currently posted as the District Magistrate (DM) of Banka, Bihar. Meanwhile, Navjot Simi herself is serving as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bihar’s Weaker Sections Cell.
