Whenever we hear of record-setting salary packages, its normally graduates from premier institutions like IIMs and IITs who are the usual suspects, often securing packages exceeding Rs 1 crore. However, amid the crowd of IITians and IIM graduates who are usually associated with securing high-paying corporate jobs, especially in the the tech industry, Abhijeet Dwivedi, an IIIT Lucknow graduate, has broken the mold by securing a record-breaking salary package, the highest in the institute’s history, at Amazon.

Abhijeet Dwivedi, a resident of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, was offered a whopping Rs 1.20 crore salary package by global conglomerate Amazon in the 2022. The young B.Tech graduate from IIIT Lucknow currently works as a software development engineer at Amazon’s Dublin office in Ireland.

According to reports, Abhijeet Dwivedi was born and raised in UP’s Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), where he completed his schooling and later went to Lucknow to pursue a B.Tech degree in Information Technology from IIIT Lucknow. In 2022, when Dwivedi was in his final year at IIIT Lucknow, he was hired by Amazon for record salary of Rs 1.20 crore, the highest-ever in the institution’s history.

Earlier, Abhijeet had worked as an intern for tech companies like Upstox and Trifacta, which gave him valuable insight into the tech industry as well as experience before working for a giant like Amazon.

Reminiscing his preparation for getting a job at Amazon, Abhijeet Dwivedi noted that besides his technical know-how, his soft skills also played a key role in his placement.

Dwivedi also stressed the importance of building relationships with senior peers in order to stay informed about upcoming opportunities and receive advice for excelling in job interviews.

Abhijeet’s remarkable success story has put IIIT Lucknow in the spotlight where the average salary for campus placements is pegged at Rs 30 lakh, according to reports.
