New Delhi: Poverty can be a profound teacher, instilling humility and providing the unwavering motivation to transform one’s circumstances. One such inspiring story is that of Ansar Shaikh, who overcame adversity to clear the civil services examination and became the youngest IAS officer.

Hailing from Maharashtra’s Jalna village in the Marathwada district, Shaikh was raised by an autorickshaw driver and field labourer parents. His younger brother left school in the seventh grade to work at a garage to help support the family while his sister got married at the age of fifteen.

At the age of 21, Ansar Shaikh cleared the UPSC Civil Services examination 2016. He obtained an All India Rank(AIR) of 361 in the 2016 UPSC CSE Exam. Going by the media reports, he obtained 91 per cent in his Class 10th examinations. He completed his undergraduate at Pune College.

Shaikh, now serves as the ADM in Cooch Behar, West Bengal.
