UPSC Success Story: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is one of the toughest competitive exams in India because of its extensive syllabus and high competition. Lakhs of aspirants appear in the exam but only a few are able to crack all the three phases of the civil service examination. Clearing UPSC is a dream for many but success only comes to those who work hard with complete dedication. There are very less people who cracked India’s one of the toughest exams in their first attempt. This achievement becomes even more remarkable when a girl from a small village becomes an IAS officer at 22. Let’s know IAS Sulochana Meena’s story.
Sulochana Meena hails from the village of Adalwara in Sawai Madhopur district, Rajasthan. She completed her schooling in her hometown. Bright student Sulochana then moved to India’s capital – Delhi – to pursue her higher studies. She earned her graduation degree in botany from Delhi University.
Meena not only cracked UPSC and became an IAS officer but also achieved a milestone by becoming one of the youngest IAS officers in the country.
From a very young age, Sulochana aspired to become an IAS officer. During her UPSC preparation, she studied for 8–9 hours daily religiously. She also solved mock tests and used free resources available on YouTube and Telegram. She also focused heavily on NCERT books.
Sulochana fulfilled her father’s dream of becoming an IAS officer. In 2021, she appeared for the UPSC exam and secured 415th rank.
Sulochana Meena is currently posted in Jharkhand, serving as an IAS officer.
