Shailbala Martin, an IAS woman officer from Madhya Pradesh, made a post on X, after which there was a lot of uproar on the social media platform. IAS Shailbala, while replying to a journalist’s tweet, has raised questions on the noise pollution caused by loudspeakers in temples. BJP has expressed objection to this tweet. And Congress has come out in their support.

She wrote that no one has any problem with the loudspeakers in temples, which spread noise pollution from speakers far away in many streets and keep playing till midnight.

Congress spokesperson Abbas Hafeez has defended Shailbala Martin’s comments. He said that the BJP government’s action against loudspeakers is politically motivated. Meanwhile, President of Sanskriti Bachao Manch, Pandit Chandrashekhar Tiwari has criticized Martin.

Who is Shailbala Martin?


Shailbala Martin is a senior IAS officer of the 2009 batch, currently serving as Additional Secretary in the General Administration Department of Madhya Pradesh. Originally from Indore, she has held various key positions throughout her career. She served as the Collector of Niwari district and the Municipal Commissioner of Burhanpur. Even at the age of 56, Martin remains unmarried, a fact that made the announcement of her wedding even more significant.

Martin has been a part of the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services since 2009 and was later promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 2017.
