The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought response from the Manipur government on steps taken to prevent human rights violations in the state, as well as relief and rehabilitation measures for the victims of violence.

Noting that in most of the matters relating to violation of human rights due to continued violence in Manipur, the Action Taken Reports (ATRs) sought by the state government were awaited yet, the Commission directed the state government to expedite ATRs awaited in specific complaints.

The rights body further directed the state government to submit a report within two weeks on action taken by the concerned authority in the series of incidents that kept on happening for a considerable period and the disturbances, which continued for a pretty long time.

It ordered the authorities to ensure that no further violence which result in violation of human rights, took place in the state.
