In a transformative step toward inclusivity and empowerment, TREEI Foundation, in partnership with Imerys Group under its CSR initiative, has introduced “The Third Wheel,” a pioneering food truck operated entirely by members of the LGBTQI+ community. This initiative seeks to create meaningful employment opportunities and foster entrepreneurship within marginalized groups.
“The Third Wheel” food truck had been handed over to Tritiyapanth Samajik Vikas Sansthan, Aurangabad. The well-known social reformer Honorable Baba Adhav addressed the event and commended the idea, calling it a revolutionary move in strengthening underprivileged communities and promoting inclusivity. The event was graced by prominent personalities from social fields such as Mr Ramesh Awasthi from Masum Foundation, Tamanna Inamdar, social activist and writer, along with members of the LGBTQIA + community from Pune.
While Speaking about the initiative Mr. Tanveer Inamdar, Executive Director of TREEI Foundation Said, “ Our mission at TREEI Foundation has always been to create opportunities that empower marginalized communities to lead lives of dignity and independence. The launch of ‘The Third Wheel’ is a significant milestone in that journey, as it combines entrepreneurship, inclusivity, and social change in a tangible, impactful way. By providing the LGBTQI+ community with a platform to showcase their talents and achieve financial independence, we aim to challenge stereotypes and pave the way for greater acceptance in society. This initiative is not just about a food truck; it’s about breaking barriers, fostering dialogue, and building a future where diversity is celebrated. We are grateful to Imerys Group for their unwavering support and to Tritiyapanth Samajik Vikas Sansthan for partnering with us in making this vision a reality. Together, we hope to inspire many more such endeavors that drive equality and empowerment.”
Mr. Prasanna Karandikar, India Head of Imerys Group, Said, “At Imerys Group, we believe that true progress comes from fostering inclusivity and creating opportunities for all. ‘The Third Wheel’ food truck is a testament to this belief, as it empowers the LGBTQI+ community with the tools to achieve financial independence and showcase their entrepreneurial spirit. We are proud to collaborate with TREEI Foundation on this pioneering initiative that not only gives economic empowerment but also challenges societal norms. Through this project, we aim to inspire a more inclusive and equitable future, where diversity is not just acknowledged but celebrated as a strength.”
Guided by the “Table for All” philosophy, it creates a welcoming space where diversity is celebrated, and people come together over high-quality, nutritious meals. This initiative goes beyond providing employment—it offers LGBTQI+ individuals a chance to achieve financial independence, develop entrepreneurial skills, and challenge societal norms. Equiped with necessary tools and kitchen, this truck comes with one year insurance, necessary SOP documents and operational support, along with hands-on training and startup assistance during the first month. With a strong focus on hygiene, quality, and operational excellence, TREEI Foundation will continue to provide mentorship and monitoring to ensure long-term success. Set to launch operations in Aurangabad within 20 days, “The Third Wheel” aspires to become a model for similar ventures, fostering social change and inspiring acceptance across the country.
