Hailing from Thalasseri in Kerala’s Kannur district, IAS officer B Abdul Nasar lost his father at just five years old. As a result, Nasar and his siblings were placed in an orphanage while their mother worked as a domestic helper to support the family. Despite these hardships, Nasar completed his schooling, spending 13 years in the orphanage. At just ten years old, he began contributing to the family income by working as a cleaner and hotel supplier.

Later, B Abdul Nasar graduated from Thalassery’s Government College. To support his family, he took on various jobs, such as delivering newspapers, offering tuition classes, and working as a phone operator.

Later, in 1994, B Abdul Nasar began his career as a government employee in the Kerala Health Department after completing his postgraduate degree. His dedication to public service and hard work led to multiple promotions, and by 2006, he had risen to the position of Deputy Collector in the State Civil Service.

In 2015, B Abdul Nasar was recognized as Kerala’s top Deputy Collector, a recognition that paved the way for his promotion to IAS officer in 2017. He served as the Housing Commissioner for the Government of Kerala before being appointed as the District Collector of Kollam in 2019.
