Lecture on Management of COPD Exacerbation

Aligarh : The Department of Moalejat, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organised a guest lecture by Prof. Mohammad Shameem, Chairman, Department of TB and Chest Diseases, Faculty of Medicine, JNMCH, AMU, on the management of COPD exacerbation.

Prof Shameem delineated various aspects of the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), its diagnosis and management of Acute Exacerbation of COPD.

Explaining COPD, its causes and epidemiology, he said that currently COPD is the third leading cause of death in the world and the condition is also severe in India.

He further discussed the current diagnostic and treatment protocol according to Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Disease (GOLD) guidelines and how to differentiate between Bronchial Asthma and COPD.

He also delineated the recent treatment guidelines according to GOLD-2023 and elaborated the use of triple therapy for better and effective treatment.

The lecture was presided over by Prof. Ubaidullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, AMU.

Earlier, Prof. Badrudduja Khan, Chairman, Department of Moalejat and Convener of the lecture welcomed the guest speaker and introduced him to the audience.

On the occasion, Prof. Mohammad Anwar, Department of Ilaj Bit tadbeer, Dr. Abdur Rauf, Chairman, Department of Ilmul Advia and Dr. Mohammad Mohsin, Chairman, Department of Amraze Jild wa Zohrawiya were also present along with the other faculty members including Prof. Tabassum Latafat, Prof. Tanzeel Ahmad, Dr. S. Javed Ali, Dr. Sadaf, and P.G scholars and interns of the Department.

Prof. Ubaidullah Khan and Prof. Badrudduja Khan presented memento and certificate to the guest speaker.
