Legal practitioners, law students and teachers may feel the pinch if the three laws get amended. The Lok Sabha in India has proposed three Bills to replace colonial-era criminal laws, namely the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act. Once the bills become Acts, they will be replaced with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya, respectively. The introduction of these Acts will require a change in the law school syllabus and may pose challenges for practitioners, teachers, and students.
