The Supreme Court observed on Friday that if the civil suits pertaining to the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute were heard by the Allahabad High Court, it would be in the interest of all stakeholders.

The Bench of Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia made the observation on a petition filed by the Shahi Idgah Committee, challenging the Allahabad High Court order of May 26, by which the High Court had transferred all pending suits from the Mathura Court to itself.

Taking in view the nature of the matter, the Bench asked the petitioner would it not be better that the High Court tried the case?

It further observed that if it was tried at a higher level, the pendency of matter caused its own disquiet, one side or the other.

The Apex Court pointed out that the multiplicity of proceedings and prolongation were not in the interest of anybody.

It said the objective, as the Bench could see, was to ensure that further proceedings were not filed in the present matter. It was in the larger interest of everybody that the matter was decided at a higher level, added the top court of the country.

The Bench then sought details from the Registrar of the Allahabad High Court over all the civil suits related to the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute at Mathura.
