International Nurses Day 2024 is a chance to celebrate the incredible work done by nurses all over the world, but particularly in our Faculty! The work of a nurse is incredibly diverse; read through some of the recent achievements from our staff, students and alumni.
Prevention and cure in the breast care world
Dr Victoria (Vickki) Harmer AKC (Nursing, 1997; Doctorate in Healthcare, 2015) is a Consultant Nurse for breast care at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, covering breast screening and symptomatic services. She leads a team of nurse specialists and is involved in both service delivery and improvement.
Vickki was recently in the King’s alumni magazine InTouch, talking about the impact and breadth of her work as a breast care nurse and advocate.

Get to know Kendra Schneller MBE
Kendra Schneller MBE (Postgraduate Nursing Free Standing Module, 2020) is an award-winning nursing specialist who has consistently supported underserved communities such as refugees, asylum seekers, and those experiencing homelessness.
Kendra has received numerous accolades for her work, including the Chief Nursing Officer’s (England) Silver Award, the Nursing Standard’s Community Nursing Award, King’s Health Partners Adult Mentor of the year, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust Nurse Specialist of the year, the Dame Eileen Sills (chief nurse) Individual Award, and an MBE in The King’s Birthday Honours, 2023.
