NGT seeks status report from UP on Illegal slaughterhouses in Bulandshahr


The appointment of Justice Sheo Kumar as Acting Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT)was notified by the Central government.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC).The notification stated that he would hold the position till a new Chairman is selected.

The appointment was made in the wake of retirement of Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel as Chairperson on Thursday.

Justice Singh is a Allahabad University graduate who joined the judicial service in 1984 and worked as a district judge in various districts of Uttar Pradesh (UP).

He also served as Registrar (Judicial), Supreme Court of India and Registrar General, Allahabad High Court before his elevation as a Allahabad High Court judge.

He was appointed as Judicial Member of the NGT on March 11, 2020
