Aamir Khan’s elder son, Junaid Khan, has been making headlines ever since his Netflix debut movie, Maharaj. While he made a mark with his impressive acting, the star kid recently revealed that despite auditioning for Laapataa Ladies, he could not bag the lead role of Deepak Kumar, which eventually went to Sparsh Shrivastav. FYI, Laapataa Ladies is directed by Junaid’s stepmother, Kiran Rao, and the movie is produced by Aamir Khan.

Speaking with Vickey Lalwani during a podcast for his YouTube channel, Junaid said that he gave a screen test for Laapataa Ladies as he was interested in the role; however, the director felt that Sparsh was a better fit. He said, “Laapataa Ladies was a very different scenario. I did a screen test for the film, but Kiran just said, ‘Sparsh Shrivastava is better for the part,’ and I agree with her. He was better suited for the role.

He further added that Kiran Rao’s decision didn’t impact their relationship and stated, “Our equation is very good. She is a very fun and warm person, and we get along great.”

Interestingly, Junaid, in the same podcast, disclosed that he and Kiran had auditioned to play a mother-son duo in Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, which also did not work out. “You would have seen me in Laal Singh Chaddha because I tested for it, along with Kiran Rao. She played my mother. We shot 7-8 scenes for the film over four days, amounting to about 20 minutes of footage. It was a test for me as well,” Junaid stated.

He then added, “Papa wanted to see how I dealt with the material. Ultimately, it didn’t work out, largely due to budget reasons. It was a very expensive film to put a new person in.”

Workwise, Junaid Khan is currently gearing up for his next film, Loveyapa, opposite Khushi Kapoor.
