2. PM dedicates Namo Path, Devka seafront in Daman to the nation

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated Namo Path, Devka Seafront in Daman to the nation. The 5.45 km Devka seafront, built at a cost of about Rs 165 crore , is the only beach resort of its kind in the country, which is expected to give a boost to the local economy. It will attract more tourists to the area while becoming a center for leisure and entertainment activities. The seafront has been transformed into a world-class tourist destination with provision for smart lighting, parking facilities, gardens, food stalls, recreational areas and a futuristic luxury tent city.

3. Australia to host offline Quad summit in Sydney on 24 May

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that Australia will host the Quad summit to be held offline in Sydney on 24 May . It will include US President Joe Biden , Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Prime Minister Narendra Modi . Mr Albanese said the Quad is committed to an open, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific region that respects sovereignty and ensures security and development for all.

4. Inauguration of Study in India Pavilion at Getex – Global Education and Training Exhibition held in Dubai

India’s Consul General Dr. Aman Puri inaugurated the Study in India Pavilion at the Global Education and Training Exhibition – Getex in Dubai . The exhibition has been organized by the Services Export Promotion Council in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The exhibition, held at the Getex 2023 at the World Trade Center in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, will run from April 26 to 28. More than thirty Indian universities and institutions active in the field of Indian higher education are participating in this exhibition.

5. India-Hungary Joint Working Group Meeting on Water Management

First meeting of India-Hungary Joint Working Group constituted for implementation of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of water management between India and Hungary New Delhi Where the challenges in the water sector and the initiatives being taken by both the countries were discussed extensively. A three-year working program was signed to chart the way forward for India-Hungary cooperation in water management. Both the sides made detailed presentations on the issues, challenges, initiatives taken and success stories related to water management in both the countries. The meeting highlighted the key issues of over-exploitation of groundwater and the need for proper water management practices in India and several programs and projects reshaping India’s water landscape. Six priority areas for cooperation were identified and agreed upon. These areas are management of extremes, exploration and management of groundwater, rejuvenation of rivers and water bodies, mitigating the impact of climate change on water resources, protection and conservation of the quality of water resources,

6. India signs new action plan on quality infrastructure with Germany at Indo-German Working Group meeting in Berlin

The Department of Consumer Affairs and Germany ‘s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action have signed a new action plan for quality infrastructure for the year 2023 during the 9th annual meeting of the Indo-German Working Group . The plan was signed on 25 April 2023 in Berlin, Germany . This annual meeting marks the 10th anniversary of the Working Group. 7. Bangladesh allows movement of goods from Northeast to other parts of India

Bangladesh has allowed the use of its territory for cargo movement from the Northeast to other parts of India through Chattogram and Mongla ports . A formal standing transit order has been issued allowing movement of goods through these two ports. This will reduce the cost and time of freight movement between the North Eastern states and other parts of India. Bangladesh will not allow the transportation of prohibited items and the goods brought cannot be kept at the ports of Bangladesh for more than seven days.

8. Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched Liquid Nano DAP Urea of Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative-IFFCO in New Delhi

Cooperation Minister Amit Shah dedicated 500 ml liquid IFFCO Nano DAP fertilizer to the nation in New Delhi . With this, now we will get rid of 45 kg DAP bags. In his address, the Union Minister said that fertilizer is an integral part of farming. In this only spraying of plants will increase both the quality and quantity of production and also conserve the land. The fertility of the land will also remain. The price of this liquid Nano DAP has been kept at Rs 600, while the cost of the sack is Rs 1,350. This will reduce the cost of the farmer, reduce subsidy and reduce the use of fertilizers.

The Indian Institute of Technology – IIT-Bombay ‘s Shoonya Team Designs its Innovative Zero-Energy Buildings and Places Second in the Solar Energy Decathlon Competition in the USA Received. Zero Team aims to create sustainable building designs for city dwellers by young students. Such designed houses will help in maintaining the air quality in a hot and humid city like Mumbai. 32 student teams from around the world participated in this competition. Zero from India is the only team that has participated in it. The Indian team has developed a building that has a fourteen kilowatt solar PV plant to control the building’s climate. This new type of building will require about eighty percent less water as compared to using normal water. Arrangements have also been made for the use of rain water.

11. Japanese private company ISpace Inc.’s Chandrayaan mission landing attempt failed

The Chandrayaan mission of the Japanese private company ISpace Inc. has suffered a setback. In this way, Japan’s dream of landing its own lander on the lunar surface has remained incomplete. The name of this lander is Hakuto-R Mission 1. Japanese startup iSpace Inc said its attempt to land on the lunar surface failed after it lost contact with its Hakuto-R mission lander. It is believed that the lander rover fell victim to the accident while trying to land fast. This satellite of the Japanese company was launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida in December last year by a SpaceX rocket. So far only America, Soviet Union and China have successfully landed on the moon. Indian and Israeli landing attempts have failed.

12. The central government approved the establishment of 157 new government nursing colleges in the country at a cost of one thousand 570 crore rupees, also approved the National Medical Device Policy-2023

The government has approved the establishment of 157 new government nursing colleges near the existing medical colleges in the country at a cost of Rs 1570 crore . The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi . After the meeting, Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that an amount of Rs 10 crore would be given for the establishment of each nursing college. He said that the demand for B.Sc Nursing has increased globally including in India and opening of new nursing colleges will help in meeting this demand. The government has also approved the National Medical Device Policy 2023.

13. Defense Secretary Shri Giridhar Armane inaugurates Ashok Roy Training Simulator Complex

Defense Secretary Shri Giridhar Armane inaugurated the state-of-the-art P8I simulator named ‘Ashok Roy Training Simulator Complex’ (ARTSC) . The inaugural event took place on 25 Apr 23 at INS Rajali, Arakkonam . ARTSC will now be able to reduce the need for training on actual aircraft after its use, resulting in greater availability of aircraft for operational missions. The facility will assist the aircrew to practice all operational missions and complex military scenarios and will provide the men and women in the Indian Navy with the necessary training to operate one of the most advanced aircraft – the P8I. Died in gallant action in Indo-Pak war of 1971 The Training Simulator Complex has been named ‘Ashok Roy Training Simulator Complex’ to commemorate the distinguished service and supreme sacrifice made by Lt Cdr Ashok Roy, VRC, NM . Indian Navy had signed a turnkey project with M/s Boeing in 2018 to build a simulator complex with 10 years on-site AMC. The project, the fourth of its kind in the world along with the US, UK and Australia , is the first in Asia .

14. 2023 Locked Shields cyber-defense exercise organized by NATO in Tallinn

The annual edition of the world’s largest cyber defense exercise “ Locked Shield ” was organized by NATO partner Cyber Defense Center of Excellence in Tallinn (Estonia) . More than 3000 participants from NATO allies and partners including 38 countries joined the exercise. The exercise, called “Locked Shield”, protected computer systems from real-time attacks and practiced tactical and strategic decision-making in risky situations.

When warm air stays in one place for a long time, like a lid placed on a pot, it forms a dome of warm air, called a heat dome, from an area of high pressure. The longer the air is trapped, the more the sun heats the air, leading to warmer conditions each day. The heat dome usually forms over a few days but can sometimes extend for weeks, producing an extreme heat wave. Scientists suggest that any area of high pressure, whether a heat dome or not, causes the air to descend and when it reaches the ground, it is compressed and heated. Furthermore, when the air is compressed, it gets heated up and further increases the temperature of the region.

17. EU Legislature Gives Final Approval To MiCA Regulations

The European Union legislature has given final approval to the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) Regulations , the new common rules for the crypto space in Europe . MiCA bitcoin Will govern the supervision, consumer protection and environmental safeguards of digital assets including cryptocurrencies. MiCA aims to reduce the carbon footprint of cryptocurrencies and combat the risks of market manipulation, money laundering and terrorist financing. Large service providers are obliged to disclose their energy consumption, and licensing has been introduced for crypto service providers operating in the block. A register will also be set up for non-compliant companies. MiCA will protect consumers from fraud and allow the sector to regain confidence. This will put the EU at the forefront of the token economy with 10,000 different crypto assets. The MiCA will come into effect 20 days after it receives formal endorsement from the Council and is published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

According to the latest SIPRI data, global military expenditure increased by 3.7% year-on-year, reaching $2.3 trillion. This is the biggest jump since 2009, and total spending is now 10% higher than in 2012. Increased military spending by European countries due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine happened. 21. India, Armenia, Iran hold first trilateral political consultations in Yerevan

It is a freight corridor that connects India, Iran and Russia and aims to reduce the time and cost of moving goods from Mumbai to Moscow. The International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC) agreement was already signed by Russia, Iran and India in 2002 and has been expanded.

22. RBI imposes fine of Rs 44 lakh on 4 cooperative banks
