Indian Air Force Day is celebrated every year on 8 October . The Indian Air Force celebrated its 91st Raising Day on 8 October 2023 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh . On this occasion, the Air Force organized a spectacular parade at Bamrauli Air Force Station. Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal V.R. Choudhary unveiled the new flag of the Air Force in a parade. For this, the old flag of the Air Force was taken down and respectfully handed over to the Air Force Chief. Now this flag will be displayed in the Air Force Museum. This year , for the first time, the parade on Air Force Day will be led by a woman officer i.e. Group Captain Shalija Dhami. Did it. For the first time, contingents of women military personnel including Agniveer Vayu women participated in the parade. More than a hundred fighter and transport aircraft, including fighter jets like Su-30, Rafale, Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, C-130J Super Hercules and helicopters from ten airports performed aerial stunts. During this, MiG-21 was given a formal farewell and transport aircraft C-295 was inducted into the Air Force. Tigermoth and Harvard Two vintage aircraft also participated in the programme. These aircraft were used in the Second World War. Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team displayed various configurations. Apart from this, the Akashganga Sky Team of the Air Force also performed feats. The theme of this year’s Air Force Day is – Indian Air Force – Global Airpower. The Indian Air Force was formed on 8 October 1932 as a subsidiary of the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom. The Indian Air Force fielded its first squadron in 1933 and flew its first mission on this date.

The Union Ministry of Cooperation has decided to computerize and further strengthen the offices of the Registrars of Cooperative Societies and one thousand eight hundred and fifty one agricultural and rural development banks in all the States and Union Territories . A Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Computerization of Agricultural and Rural Development Banks operating in thirteen States on the lines of the Scheme for Computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies has been approved. This will be done through National Integrated Software and computerization of Registrar of Cooperative Societies offices in all States and Union Territories.

India and Saudi Arabia have signed an MoU in the field of electrical interconnection, green and clean hydrogen and power supply . The agreement was signed during the session of the Middle East and North Africa Climate Week -MENA in Riyadh . India’s Union Minister for Power and Renewable Energy R. Of. Singh and Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister Abdul Aziz bin Salman Alsaud Signed this agreement. Haryana Government has launched ‘ Subsidy Scheme for Widows ‘ from the year 2021-22 to make women , especially widows, divorced and legally separated women, self-reliant and improve their economic and social condition in rural and urban areas of the state. State Minister of State for Women and Child Development Kamlesh Dhanda said that these schemes are being run through Haryana Mahila Vikas Nigam and under this scheme, so far, loans worth Rs 638.68 lakh have been given to 256 widowed women. He said that under this scheme, individual businesses like tailoring, embroidery, grocery, maniyari, readymade garments, clothes shops, stationery, boutique, auto, e-rickshaw, masala, pickle units, food processing, manufacturing of carry bags, bakery and For general store etc. Loans up to Rs 3 lakh are being given through banks. In case of timely payment of loan by the beneficiary, Haryana Mahila Vikas Nigam will provide 100 percent interest subsidy for 3 years at the prevailing interest rate of banks or a maximum of Rs 50 thousand , whichever is earlier.

9 Punjab will ban Pusa-44 paddy variety​

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has recently announced a ban on the cultivation of paddy variety Pusa-44 in the state from next year . PUSA-44 was once popular among farmers of Punjab due to its high yield, covering a significant portion of paddy cultivation. However, the state government has decided to ban its cultivation. PUSA-44 was developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 1993. It was developed by and initially gained popularity in Punjab in the late 1990s. Farmers were attracted to Pusa-44 because of its remarkable yield, and its cultivated area expanded rapidly, eventually covering about 70 to 80% of the paddy cultivated area of Punjab. Pusa-44 has a long maturity period, taking about 160 days to mature, which is about 35 to 40 days longer than other paddy varieties. This extended cultivation period requires 5-6 additional cycles of irrigation, exacerbating the problem of groundwater depletion in Punjab. The state is grappling with a sharp decline in groundwater levels, raising concerns about water scarcity. Additionally, the late harvest of PUSA-44 coincides with the ideal time for wheat planting. Farmers have limited time to manage the disposal of stubble between two crops,

10 UNCTAD raises India’s 2023 growth forecast to 6.6%​
