India gave a historic performance in the 45th Chess Olympiad and won gold medals in the open and women’s categories . The country also got 4 gold medals in the individual category, 2-2 players secured first place in both men’s and women’s categories. 5-5 players represented India in both categories. After 11 rounds, the open team scored 21 out of 22 points. The women’s team won the gold with 19 points. Tania Sachdev, Vaishali Remshababu, Harika Dronavalli, Vantika Agarwal and Divya Deshmukh won the gold in the women’s team. Playing on board-4, Vantika Agarwal also won the women’s individual gold medal. India’s strongest player in the women’s team was 18-year-old Divya Deshmukh. She also won the individual gold on board-3 with a score of 9.5 points. India’s open team included Pentala Harikrishna, R Praggnanandhaa, Vidit Gujrathi, D Gukesh and Arjun Erigaisi. Among them, Gukesh and Arjun also won individual gold.

The Quad leaders have said that it is an organization for “ global interest ”. They made several announcements to address the development priorities of the Indo-Pacific region and the global community. These include the Quad Cancer Moonshot Initiative, which is an important partnership for the treatment of cervical cancer in the Indo-Pacific region. Apart from this, the Maritime Training Initiative in the Indo-Pacific – Maitri was announced. The Quad leaders also announced the launch of the Quad-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission next year , which aims to improve mutual cooperation and enhance maritime security. The “ Quad Ports of the Future Partnership ” was also announced, under which the Quad countries will strengthen the port infrastructure. The Quad leaders also announced the creation of a semiconductor supply chain network for the development and implementation of digital public infrastructure. India also announced the creation of a web-portal for Mauritius which will be helpful in tracking weather and climate with the help of space. Apart from this, the Quad STEM Fellowship has been started for students of the Indo-Pacific region . With this, students from these countries will be able to study graduate level engineering in technical institutes funded by the Government of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the opening of two new Indian Consulates in Boston and Los Angeles in the US . The Prime Minister also announced the opening of a Thiruvalluvar Chair for Tamil Studies at the University of Houston . He made this announcement while addressing the Indian community at the Nassau Coliseum in New York . At present, India has six Consulates in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Seattle.

4 America returned 297 antiques to India during Prime Minister Modi’s visit​

The US has handed over 297 antiques to India during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi , which were smuggled out of the country. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information on Sunday in an official statement. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Archaeological Survey of India, operating under the administrative control of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of India, and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US State Department signed a Cultural Property Agreement in July 2024 with the aim of maintaining close bilateral relations between the two countries and promoting better cultural understanding. Its aim is to fulfill the commitments expressed by President Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance cooperation to protect cultural heritage, as reflected in the joint statement issued after their meeting in June 2023. According to the ministry, these antiquities are about 4000 years old, from 2000 BC to 1900 AD and have originated from different parts of India. Most of these antiquities are terracotta artefacts from eastern India, while others are made of stone, metal, wood and ivory and belong to different parts of the country.

5 Kerala retains top spot in Indian Food Index for second consecutive year​

Kerala has once again topped the State Food Safety Index (SFSI) 2024 , the second consecutive year that the southern state has secured this position. The report was released at the opening session of the FSSAI Global Food Regulators Summit 2024. The index is an annual assessment released by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). It was launched from 2018-19 with the aim of bringing competitive and positive changes in the food safety ecosystem in the country. This index will help in providing safe and nutritious food to our citizens. Top Performing States:

6 Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat addressed the G-20 Ministerial Conference in Brazil​

Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has said that India’s initiative to set up a dashboard for global welfare has received strong support at the G-20 ministerial meeting in Brazil . He said that the country is committed to promoting green tourism and moving forward in the spirit of collective power of cooperation. Mr. Shekhawat said that culture and tourism play an important role in socio-economic development and nature-friendly tourism. He described five areas as important for sustainable tourism – green tourism, digitization, skill development, tourism-related micro, medium and small enterprises and destination management.





7 India signed first of its kind agreements focused on clean economy, fair economy and IPEF comprehensive arrangements for prosperity under Indo-Pacific Economic Architecture

India signed and exchanged first of its kind agreements focused on Clean Economy, Fair Economy and IPEF Overarching Mechanism under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) in presence of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in Delaware , USA on 21st September, 2024. PM Modi is on a 3 day visit to the US to attend the Quad Summit . IPEF Clean Economy Agreement (Pillar-III) : The Agreement on Clean Economy aims to promote technical cooperation, workforce development, capacity building and research collaboration and to facilitate development, access and deployment of clean energy and climate resilient technologies with the objective of collectively accelerating efforts of IPEF partners towards energy security and transition, climate resilience and adaptation and GHG emission mitigation. IPEF Fair Economy Agreement (Pillar-IV) : The Agreement aims to create a more transparent and predictable trade and investment environment in the Indo-Pacific region. To achieve these goals, IPEF partners will cooperate to enhance their efforts to prevent and combat corruption, including bribery, and support initiatives to improve tax transparency, information sharing, domestic resource mobilization, and tax administration. Overarching IPEF Agreement : The Overarching Agreement is an administrative agreement that will establish responsible ministerial mechanisms. This agreement will establish a high-level political oversight framework at the ministerial level over the various individual IPEF agreements. It will also set common guidance and goals, and guide the thinking and mandate of leaders for IPEF. This agreement mainly contains administrative and institutional provisions.

8 India A won the Duleep Trophy title

India A has won the Duleep Trophy 2024 title. The team defeated India C by 132 runs on the fourth day on Sunday in the last and final round. Shashwat Rawat scored a century in the first innings and a half-century in the second innings. He was adjudged the Player of the Match . The winner was to be decided from the last round of the Duleep Trophy. This time the tournament was played in a new format. There were no knockout matches, the team that topped the points table was declared the champion.

9 India performed brilliantly in the International Level 2 tournament held in Surakarta, Indonesia, winning 34 medals.​

While India’s Umesh Vikram won the gold medal in the SL-3 event in Indonesia Para Badminton , Sukant Kadam, Sivarajan Solaimalai and Mandeep Kaur won silver medals in their respective events. Umesh Vikram defeated compatriot and top seed Nehal Gupta 12-21 21-8 21-19 in the final of the men’s singles SL3 event. Sukant Kadam had to settle for the silver medal after losing 14-21 14-21 to Indonesia’s Freddy Setiawan in the final of the men’s singles SL4 event. India performed brilliantly in the International Level 2 tournament held in Surakarta, Indonesia, winning 34 medals .
