16 Majorana Zero Modes, Quantum Computing

cu-20230716175237.jpg

Recently, Microsoft researchers announced a significant breakthrough in the creation of Majorana zero modes , a type of particle that has potential implications for revolutionizing quantum computing . Microsoft researchers have developed a topological superconductor from an aluminum superconductor and indium arsenide semiconductor. built. Their device underwent a rigorous protocol including measurements and simulations indicating a high probability of hosting Majorana zero modes. The topological gap protocol and the observation of the conductance peak are considered strong evidence for the Majorana zero mode. All the subatomic particles that make up matter are called fermions. In 1928, physicist Paul Dirock developed the Dirock equation to understand how quantum mechanics and the special theory of relativity could co-exist. The Dirock equation described the behavior of subatomic particles that moved at approximately the speed of light. This equation predicted the existence of antiparticles for every particle, which led to the discovery of the first antiparticle in 1932. The positron (or anti-electron) is discovered. In 1937, physicist Ettore Majorana discovered that the Dirock equation allows particles to become their own antiparticles that meet certain conditions. Fermions that are their own antiparticles are called Majorana fermions in his honour.
