1 Inauguration of the newly constructed Prerna Sthal in the Parliament House Complex
Vice President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the newly constructed Prerna Sthal in the Parliament House Complex . Prerna Sthal houses the statues of all the national icons and freedom fighters together, which were earlier kept at different places in the complex. The initiative aims to enhance the experience of visitors by sharing the life stories of these inspiring personalities of Indian history with them through easy access and use of modern technology like QR codes. Prerna Sthal has been developed in such a way that visitors to the Parliament House Complex can easily see the statues of great leaders and freedom fighters at one place. Modern technology has been used to provide detailed information about them to the visitors. After the inauguration, Shri Dhankhar said that this place is very inspiring.
2 Indian Air Force contingent participated in Red Flag exercise held in Alaska, USA
A contingent of the Indian Air Force participated in the Red Flag 2024 exercise held in Alaska, USA . This was the second edition of this exercise. It is an advanced air combat training exercise, which is conducted by the US Air Force four times a year. The exercise saw the participation of the Indian Air Force as well as the Republic of Singapore Air Force, the Royal Air Force of Britain, the Royal Netherlands Air Force, the German Luftwaffe and the US Air Force. It was attended by Rafale aircraft and airmen, technicians, engineers, controllers and specialists of the Indian Air Force contingent. This was the first time that Rafale aircraft of the Indian Air Force participated in it. This combat training exercise was conducted from June 4 to June 14.
3 First direct international flight service between India and Cambodia launched
The first direct international flight service between India and Cambodia was launched. The flight service was officially inaugurated by Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun and Indian Ambassador to Cambodia Devyani Khobragade . The Indian Embassy in Cambodia said in a social media post that with this direct flight service, we will start the first tourism year and this will increase the tourism sector and strengthen people-to-people contact. The embassy called it a historic moment under India’s Act East Policy. This flight will be operated four times a week by Cambodia Angkor Air between the capitals of the two countries .
4 First ever Documentary Film Bazaar inaugurated at Mumbai International Film Festival 2024
The first-ever Documentary Film Bazaar was inaugurated at the 18th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) . This unprecedented initiative is a significant milestone for MIFF, reinforcing its position as the premier platform for non-feature films in South Asia. The Documentary Film Bazaar, a pioneering initiative, aims to propel the documentary film industry by providing a unique platform for filmmakers to connect with buyers, sponsors and collaborators. The innovative event, to be held from 16th to 18th June 2024 at the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) Complex, has attracted close to 200 projects from 10 countries representing 27 languages.
5 Ganga Dussehra
On the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, a huge crowd of devotees was seen on various Ganga Ghats including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Haridwar, Garhmukteshwar in Uttar Pradesh on June 16. Ganga Dussehra festival is celebrated every year on Jyeshtha Shukla Dashami Tithi. According to beliefs, Bhagirath brought Ganga to earth on this day for the salvation of his ancestors . Since then, the tradition of worshiping Maa Ganga and taking a holy dip in it has been going on on Ganga Dussehra. Bathing in the Ganga and doing charity on Ganga Dussehra is considered extremely auspicious.
6 Lieutenant General Wakar Uz Zaman became the Army Chief of Bangladesh
Lieutenant General Wakar Uz Zaman has been named as the Chief of Bangladesh Army for the next three years . The Defense Ministry gave this information. Lieutenant General Wakar Uz Zaman will take charge from June 23. 58-year-old Lieutenant General Wakar Zaman will be upgraded to the rank of four-star general on the day he takes charge.
7 RBI approves OrionPro Payments as online payment aggregator
Aurionpro Payments, a subsidiary of Aurionpro Solutions, has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as an online payments aggregator under the Payments Settlement Act, 2007. The authorisation allows the Mumbai-based company to offer digital payment services to merchants nationwide through its payment gateway brand, AuroPay. Aurionpro Payments on Thursday announced that it has received final authorisation from the RBI to act as an online payments aggregator. This strategic move positions Aurionpro to expand its footprint in digital payments, primarily catering to the banking, mobility, payments and government sectors.
8 India is the second largest emitter of nitrous oxide in the world
India is the world’s second-largest source of nitrous oxide (N2O) , a greenhouse gas that warms the atmosphere more than carbon dioxide . About 11% of such global man-made emissions in 2020 were from India, and 16% from China . According to a global assessment of N2O emissions published in the Earth System Science Data Journal on June 12 , the major source of these emissions is fertilizer use .

11 India successful in Archery Final Olympic Qualifier
In archery , Ankita Bhakat and Bhajan Kaur secured quota places for India in the women’s individual recurve event from the Final Olympic Qualifier in Antalya , Turkey . By advancing to the quarterfinal stage, they helped secure India’s place at the Paris Olympics. There were eight individual quota places with a maximum of one individual quota for each country. India has also secured a place in the mixed team event as Dheeraj Bommadevara has got a quota in the men’s event.
