IITM launches new initiative to provide free technical skills to students

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM) Pravartak Technologies Foundation has introduced a new initiative to provide students with industry-ready technical skills free of cost. This training program will focus on IT/Infrastructure and Helpdesk support.

The program is set to begin in the first week of July 2024, and the deadline to apply is June 12, 2024. Interested individuals can register using this link: .

This free, three-month training program will run from July to September 2024, with a tentative start date in June, 2024. It will be conducted in a classroom setting and will cover topics such as Networking Essentials, Cloud Fundamentals, Ticketing Tools, Linux & Windows Basics, Storage & Backup Fundamentals, and Soft Skills.

The program is open to 2023 and 2024 BSc graduates in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, and BCA students with at least a 60 percent aggregate. No stipend will be provided to participants.

The training aims to equip students with the skills necessary to join the IT support teams of small to mid-sized organizations. While placement assistance, including mock interviews and job campaigns, will be offered, job placement is not guaranteed.


IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation is a Section 8 company that hosts a Technology Innovation Hub focused on Sensors, Networking, Actuators, and Control Systems. It is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems and is hosted by IIT Madras.
