The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Mandi, has reached a significant milestone by being the first IIT to offer a five-year Integrated MBA program. The pioneering program, provided by the School of Management, combines a BBA in Analytics (Honors) and an MBA in Data Science & AI. It aims to give students a comprehensive understanding of management while also imparting skills in analytics, data science, mathematics, and statistics through a meticulously designed curriculum.
The IMBA program also integrates courses from fields such as Humanities, Communication, and the Indian Knowledge System to promote the holistic development of its graduates.
The program’s goal is to cultivate future business leaders with a strong understanding of technology and cross-functional management skills.
In the initial years, the program develops students’ critical thinking and creativity through foundational courses in management, analytics, mathematics, statistics, communication, and personality development.
In the later years, the program offers specialized courses that provide students with the skills needed to apply technology across various management functions.
Commenting on the program, Professor Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi, said that as a premier technology institution, IIT Mandi has been closely assessing industry requirements. With the growing dependence on data for business decision-making to gain a competitive advantage, organizations are increasingly using technological tools from the fields of data science and artificial intelligence. This has led to an increased demand for business leaders with a deep understanding of these technologies and the skills to effectively apply them in a business context. The MBA program in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence was introduced in 2022 to meet this industry demand. This year, we have taken a step forward by launching the five-year IMBA program.
The program offers students a unique opportunity to obtain a master’s degree in management immediately after completing their 10+2 education from a top-tier institute in the country.
The IMBA program integrates relevant courses from Management Sciences, Analytics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Communication, and Personality Development to ensure the holistic development of its graduates. With industrial internships, training, and exposure to diverse business environments, the program aims to nurture socially aware future business leaders with a strong appreciation for technology and human values.

Upon successful completion of the full 5-year MBA program, students will be awarded two separate degrees: a BBA in Analytics (Honors) and an MBA in Data Science & AI.
Aligned with the New Education Policy, the IMBA program also offers the following exit options for students:
