Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan directed Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) to adopt multiple entry and exit options, aimed at regulating student dropouts. The move forms part of India's National Education Policy 2020 but concerns exist that offering multiple entry options could adversely affect teaching outcomes and the quality of students entering IITs. BTech programmes have an “exit diploma” option, and PhD programs an exit MS, but entry options require admissions based on JEE Advanced results, and course mapping is required. Nevertheless, offering multiple entry options could reduce dropout rates and provide more flexibility for students.
