The Indian Institute of Science and IIT Bombay top the list of government engineering colleges in India, according to the latest IIRF Rankings 2023. IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, and IIT Kharagpur follow suit. Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of colleges among the top 20, with three, followed by Delhi, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, each with two. Another ranking category is "Top Private Engineering Colleges for Employability," topped by Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, followed by Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Gandhinagar, and Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore.
