IGNOU introduces PG Diploma course in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management

The Faculty of Public Administration at the School of Social Sciences (SOSS), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), has introduced a postgraduate diploma in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PGDDRRM). The application deadline for the July session at IGNOU is June 30, 2024.

This one-year course is designed in open distance learning, with students given between one and three years to complete it. The total fee for the program is Rs 7,400.

Applicants should note that the PG diploma is available only in English and Hindi.

The PG diploma program will equip students with comprehensive knowledge about threats from nature, human-induced hazards, disaster preparedness, mitigation, and rehabilitation. It will also provide hands-on training in various aspects of disaster risk reduction and management.

In accordance with NEP 2020, these programs will incorporate an internship component to enhance students’ skills and offer practical experience in implementing what they learn during the course.

Eligibility required : –

  • Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • There are no age restrictions.

Apart from students seeking admission, these programs are designed to meet the needs of military, paramilitary, police, home guards, civil defense personnel, NGO and government officials, primary health center staff, relief workers, social workers, environmentalists, and others.

Moreover, academicians, geologists, scientists, meteorologists, engineers, journalists, and professionals from PSU and the corporate sector are also eligible to apply.
