Recently the President of India graced the inaugural ceremony of the 36th Annual Conference and Literary Festival of the All India Santhali Writers Association in Baripada , Odisha . The President praised the writers and researchers who have contributed to Santhali language and literature. Santhali is a language of the Munda branch of the Austro-Asiatic language family spoken primarily in the east-central Indian states of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha . Santhali language was included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution in the year 2003 . Pandit Raghunath Murmu made significant contributions to Santhali literature, the traditional form of which was oral and included the Ol Chiki script, sometimes known as Ol Chemet .
2 AIM-Niti Aayog launches new accelerator to help Australian and Indian circular economy startups grow
Startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) working on circular economy technologies and solutions in India and Australia will benefit from a new accelerator program to explore opportunities between the two countries. This accelerator is designed to open new doors of opportunities. AIM , NITI Aayog launched a new accelerator called Rapid Innovation and Startup Expansion (RISE) to support Australian and Indian circular economy startups . The India Australia RISE Accelerator is delivered in partnership between CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, and Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), a flagship initiative of the Government of India. Its objective is to promote the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship between the two countries.
3 Union Minister Shri Parshottam Rupala inaugurates Global Fisheries Conference India 2023 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on the occasion of World Fisheries Day
On the occasion of World Fisheries Day , Department of Fisheries, Government of India is organizing a two-day Global Fisheries Conference India 2023 which started at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad , Gujarat. Under the theme ‘ Celebrating Fisheries and Aquaculture Wealth ‘, the conference aims to bring together key stakeholders for meaningful discussions, market insights and networking. Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Parshottam Rupala inaugurated the Special Pavilion and Main Exhibition of the Global Fisheries Summit India 2023. At the event, the Inland Reservoir Leasing Portal of the Government of Gujarat was launched by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel . Reservoir leases will now be done online using the portal through e-tender/e-auction for transparency in the lease allotment process, giving priority to fisheries cooperatives, FFPOs, SHGs, etc. Gujarat Chief Minister digitally launched Black Spotted Croaker (commonly known as Ghol ) as the state fish of Gujarat . Like previous years, this year also awards were distributed by dignitaries on the occasion of World Fisheries Day. Andhra Pradesh was awarded the Best Maritime State , Uttar Pradesh the Best Inland State , Assam the Best Himalayan Region and North Eastern State . Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu) was awarded as the Best Maritime District , Seoni (Madhya Pradesh), Kamrup (Assam) won the Best Inland District and Best Himalayan and North Eastern District respectively and Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) won the Union Territory Won the best district award under state category.
4 India-US joint war exercise Vajra Prahar begins in Umroi, Meghalaya
The 14th edition of India-US joint special armed forces exercise ” Vajra Prahar 2023 ” began at the joint training site in Umroi . The US contingent was represented by soldiers of the US Special Forces 1st Special Forces Group (SFG). The Indian Army contingent is being led by Special Forces personnel from the Eastern Command. Exercise Vajra Prahar is a joint exercise conducted between special forces of the Indian Army and the US Army. It aims to share best practices and excellent experiences in areas such as joint program planning and operational strategy. The first edition of this exercise was conducted in India in the year 2010 . The 13th edition of the India-US joint special armed forces exercise was held at the Special Forces Training Center (SFTS) at Bakloh (Himachal Pradesh). The current edition is being conducted from 21 November to 11 December 2023 at Umroi Cantonment located in Meghalaya.
5 Bihar: 65 percent reservation implemented for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Most Backward Classes and Other Backward Classes in government jobs.
In Bihar , the law to increase the reservation limit for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Extremely Backward Classes and Other Backward Classes from 50 percent to 65 percent in government jobs has come into force. The state government has published a gazette notification in this regard. Earlier on November 18, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar had given his approval to the amendment bill related to this law. Similarly, the law related to increasing the reservation quota for admission in educational institutions of the state government has also come into force from today. In this law, there is a provision to increase the limit of reservation in enrollment for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Extremely Backward Classes and Other Backward Classes from fifty percent to 65 percent. The amendment bills related to both the laws were passed unanimously by the state legislature in the recently concluded winter session.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said this while launching the 48-hour Film Making Challenge under the 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow initiative at the International Film Festival of India in Goa . Shri Thakur said that 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow is a platform where young artists will get an opportunity to mold themselves as leading filmmakers and artists in the future. He said that the youth included in this year’s 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow are from 19 states and union territories including Manipur, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh.

8 Perumal Murugan’s ‘Fire Bird’ wins 2023 JCB Prize for Literature
Tamil writer Perumal Murugan ‘s novel ‘ Fire Bird ‘, expertly translated into English by Janani Kannan , emerged victorious at the 2023 JCB Prize for Literature . The prestigious award was announced along with the book published by Penguin Random House India in New Delhi. Author Srinath Perur , chairman of the five-member jury, praised ‘Fire Bird’ and said Murugan presents a down-to-earth universal story with surprising specificity. Not only the rhythm of the Tamil language but Janani Kannan’s translation was appreciated. Perumal Murugan has left a significant mark in the literary world with 12 novels, six collections of short stories, six anthologies of poetry and several non-fiction books. Ten of her novels, including ‘Seasons of the Palm’, ‘Current Show’ and ‘One Part Woman’, have been translated into English.

11 Bengaluru tops among women-led startups, Mumbai at second place

Karnataka capital Bengaluru tops the list of women-led startups with 1,783 women-led startups , leading to gender diversity in entrepreneurship. Despite the overall success of the startup ecosystem, the gender gap remains a significant challenge. According to Traxon data, Bengaluru leads the way in women-led startups with 1,783 ventures, followed by Mumbai (1,480) and Delhi (1,195) . Noida, Kolkata and Ahmedabad also make notable contributions at eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively, reflecting the geographical distribution of women entrepreneurs in India.
12 Halal products
Recent incidents in Lucknow , where FIRs were lodged against companies allegedly certifying products as halal to increase sales , have drawn attention to the concept of halal. Halal means that the product has been prepared following Islamic law . Halal certification was started in the year 1974. In the Indian context, halal primarily refers to Muslim slaughter techniques, in which a single cut is made to the jugular vein, carotid artery and trachea. The animal must be alive, healthy and all blood must be drained. It is also prescribed to recite prayers during this process. Halal extends beyond meat and includes various consumables. Vegetarian food, fish and shellfish are generally considered halal, as long as they do not contain alcohol.
13 Yemen’s Houthi rebels hijacked a ship coming to India
A cargo ship named “ Galaxy Leader ” going from Turkey to India has been hijacked by Yemen’s Houthi rebels in the Red Sea . There were about 50 crew members from different countries on board the ship. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the hijacking but clarified that the ship was not Israeli.

‘ Dhoom ‘ film director Sanjay Gadhvi has passed away. He was 56 years old. He is known for directing the films ‘Dhoom’ (2004) and ‘Dhoom 2′ (2006) in Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom series. Gadhvi made his directorial debut in 2000 with the film ‘ Tere Liye ‘, after which he made ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’ in 2002, which was his first film with Yash Raj Films.
