Mumbai : The Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) proudly announces a historic milestone with the appointment of Smt. Preeti Chandrashekhar as its first female President, effective 19th October 2024. A seasoned professional with over 34 years of experience, Smt. Chandrashekhar is recognized for her exceptional contributions to the insurance and pensions sectors, as well as her strong leadership in risk management and consulting.
Smt. Chandrashekhar, the 11th President since IAI became a statutory body in 2006, holds an M.Phil. in Statistics from the University of Delhi and is a certified Pensions Actuary. Her extensive background positions her to lead IAI as it strengthens its role in emerging fields such as data science, climate finance, and economic forecasting, equipping members to address evolving market demands.
Actuaries are vital in assessing complex risks, from market volatility to climate change, and in developing resilient financial strategies. Under her leadership, IAI will further empower actuaries as critical advisors on risk and financial stability, contributing to India’s economic resilience and sustainable growth. Smt.
