Highest recognition for Monash’s former Deputy Chancellor

Former Monash University Deputy Chancellor, The Honourable Simon Crean, has been posthumously awarded a prestigious Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) by the Governor General in the King’s Birthday 2024 Honours List.

The highest level under the Order of Australia, Mr Crean’s AC was awarded for eminent service to the people and Parliament of Australia, to tertiary education, to business, and to industrial relations.

A proud Monash alumnus, The Honourable Simon Crean AC was a peerless champion for Monash, serving as a member of the University Council from 2014, then as Deputy Chancellor from 2020 until his death in June 2023.

Throughout his working life, The Honourable Simon Crean AC was a man of unwavering integrity and this award is another honourable piece of his outstanding legacy.
