Hemchand Yadav University Triumphs at East Zone Inter-University Women’s Basketball Championship Hosted by BRABU

Hemchand Yadav University, Durg, emerged victorious at the East Zone Inter-University Women’s Basketball Championship, hosted by BR Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) in Muzaffarpur from 26th to 30th December. The team secured the championship title with an impressive streak of three consecutive wins. Calcutta University emerged as the runners-up, while Banaras Hindu University and Utkal University secured third and fourth place respectively.D. Anusha of Hemchand Yadav University was awarded the Most Valuable Player title, while D. Kriti was recognized as the Best Player of the championship.

The tournament witnessed the participation of 22 university teams. The trophy presentation ceremony was held at LN Mishra College of Business Management, attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai, Sports Minister Sri Surendra Mehta, and other dignitaries.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai extended his congratulations to the winning team and all participants, emphasizing the crucial role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and overall development. He expressed his gratitude to the organizing committee for their meticulous efforts in ensuring the successful execution of the tournament. VC Prof. Rai expressed confidence that the successful organization of this event would significantly contribute to the promotion of sports within the university and the region. He commended Dr. Sanjay Sinha, advisor of the university’s sports council, for his instrumental role in building a vibrant sports culture within the university. He also acknowledged the hard work and dedication of all those involved in organizing the event, including the faculty and staff of BRABU, volunteers, and officials.

Sports Minister Sri Surendra Mehta lauded the exceptional talent displayed by the athletes and highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting sports at all levels. He encouraged the young players to continue striving for excellence and bring further glory to their universities and the nation. Minister Mehta also highlighted the numerous sports-friendly initiatives undertaken by the Bihar government to foster a thriving sporting environment in the state.

The trophy distribution ceremony was attended by sports enthusiasts and university officials, including Madam VC, Smt. Bibha Rai, Prof. Om Prakash Roy, Prof. B.S. Rai, Prof. Rajeev Kumar, Dr. Aparajita Krishna, Prof. Kalyan Kumar Jha, Dr. Kantesh Kumar, Prof. Manta Rani, Prof. Anita Singh, Dr. Shartendu Shekhar, Dr. Renubala, Dr. Navin Kumar, Mahendra Prasad, Ravishankar Kumar, and others.​
