What can you do to help your child get into their chosen college? This is a good question, and one that we think parents should be asking more regularly. Of course, your child has to do the majority of the work as it’s their college place, and they are the one who has to work for it. But, this does not mean that there are not things that you can do as a parent to make it easier for them. Be Supportive​


It’s important that you are being supportive of the dreams that your child is laying out in front of you. It doesn’t matter if you agree with them, it doesn’t matter if you wanted something different for them. What matters is that they have made their decision, and now it’s down to you to . For some parents that is harder than others, but you have to put your personal feelings aside. This is not your life, and if you try to stand in their way, change their mind, or push them in a different direction, they may end up resenting you for this later down the line.

Offer Help With Their Schoolwork​


It might also be worth offering to help with their schoolwork. By this, we do not mean doing it for them, but being there so that they can ask you questions when they need help is useful. Or, if you are not that good at the academic side of things, then you can help them find a tutor or something to help. For example, there are sites like that offer help in math courses to ensure that your child gets back on the right track. It’s worth taking a look at things like this, just to be on the safe side and know that they exist if your child ever expresses that they need help from you.

Look Into What They Need​


The last thing that we’re going to say is that you should be looking into what they need to get into their chosen college, and . If they need certain extracurricular activities, help them make it happen. If they need volunteering hours, help them make it happen. There is so much that you can do as a parent to help your child on their journey, so make sure that you are getting as stuck in as you can.
