The Sikkim government has instructed all schools in the flood-hit state to conduct online classes for students in Class nine and above. The decision was made to compensate for the loss of class hours due to the closure of educational institutions following the flash floods. The closure was initially for four days but was extended to October 15. The total affected population is 87,300, with at least 70 casualties and 80 people still missing.
