Scientists at GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology have introduced seven innovative pulse species designed to boost crop yields and improve resistance to diseases and pests. These include the standout performer Pant Matar-484, a compact pea variety, and taller pulse pea species like Pant Matar-497 and Pant Matar-501. Additionally, small-grained lentil varieties Pant Masoor-14 and Pant Masoor-15 show promise with increased yields and disease resistance. These innovations hold potential for Indian farmers and align with national food security goals in the face of weather challenges.
