(Research) for various subjects
Delhi Technological University organized a press conference on 9th July 2024 at India Habitat Centre, Delhi in which the University informed about the new courses to be started on campus, centers of excellence, corporate relations and all-round development in digital learning
Addressing the event, Vice Chancellor of Delhi Technological University, Professor Pratik Sharma said that the University is introducing five-year Integrated B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology and Economics from the academic year 2024-25 and these new programmes have been designed as per NEP 2020 where there will be multiple entry and exit options after completing the required number of credits.
Also to give impetus to the research activities of the students, DTU has also introduced M.Tech. (Research) for various subjects in which 2/3rd component is in the form of research and 1/3rd part is in the form of course work for the students and the focus of this program is to develop advanced research skills and expertise among the students which will enable them to develop solutions to social problems. It will also enable the students to pursue PhD more efficiently.
Apart from this DTU also plans to open five centres of excellence and research, namely Centre of Excellence in Energy Transition (to conduct research to meet India’s net zero target by 2070), Centre of Executive Education (will offer courses for working executives with duration ranging from 5 days to 1 year), Centre of Excellence for Use of Drone Technology (DTU campus is being used as a training ground for drone applications), Centre of Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction (to promote research in the field of reducing risks from natural and man-made disasters in the country), and Centre of Community Development and Research (will focus on local problems of the community and their solutions). Overall, the aim of setting up these centres is to conduct cutting-edge research that will enable us to develop technological solutions to societal problems.
DTU believes that quality education should not be the privilege of only those who clear the entrance exams. Thus, to enable quality education for all, DTU is embarking on a journey of digital education, where DTU is setting up a dedicated Office of Digital Education. This office will develop digital infrastructure, expand the availability of online learning platforms and create online course content with its renowned faculty.
To boost DTU’s corporate relations, DTU is creating a Corporate Relationship Office in the university. This office will support DTU researchers in IP management and technology transfer. In addition, this office aims to reach out to the industry with proposals to effectively utilize its CSR funds, which remain unutilized.
