Aligarh : Dr Taher H Pathan, In-charge, Marathi Section, Department of Modern Indian Languages, Aligarh Muslim University, delivered a special lecture on the theme “National Education Policy 2020 and Languages” in a two-day National Seminar on “Higher Education through Indian Language Medium: Challenges and Prospects”, organised by Central University of Rajasthan, in collaboration with Bhartiya Bhasha Samiti (Ministry of Education, Government of India).
Dr Pathan said, “The new education policy has opened the doors on schooling through the medium of mother tongue. Although multilingualism is important, the Kasturirangan Committee has clearly accepted that the understanding of subjects, theoretical principles and rules in the mother tongue can be done more easily and properly by the child.
