This directive was issued on Saturday. A large number officers and employees have been tasked with providing the requested information. As such letters are being sent to District Education Officers by the Education Department. In the mega admission drive conducted in April this year, Punjab Education Department had claimed to have enrolled 1 lakh students in government schools in a single day.

RTI activist ParvinderSingh Kitna had submitted a request seeking information under RTI in this regard. He sought information whether this 1 lakh admission in a single day was actual student enrollments, or just registrations alone. He also requested for a district-wise list of admissions. “But only half information was provided and for the remaining information all district education officers (both secondary and elementary) have been asked by the Education Department to obtain more comprehensive information,” Parvinder Singh Kitna said.
