Diljit Dosanjh Pitches The Idea Of India Hosting Bigger Music Festivals Than Coachella To PM Modi

Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has been trending everywhere after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on New Year’s Day. The globally popular singer met the PM at his residence in Delhi, where he discussed music, culture, and India’s artistic legacy. Pictures and videos from the meeting have been doing the rounds on the internet.

During the conversation, Diljit told PM Modi that India has the potential to host global musical events on a bigger scale than Coachella. When PM Modi asked Diljit about his first-hand experiences of being part of these music festivals, the singer replied, “Sir, I feel that they have made Coachella or any other festival that take place (big). We can make it much bigger. People travel from all over the world for such festivals.”

Applauding India’s rich culture of music, found in every corner of the country, the Udta Punjab actor stated, “We have such a rich culture. If we are eating food in a dhaba, and someone is singing in Rajasthani, it is such a melodious song, that I say, ‘I should stop singing’. He is singing such a good song. And I sing professionally, this person is not even singing professionally. And he is singing better than me. He has so much art in him.”

He also pitched the idea of India hosting huge music festivals and said, “If such a development happens here, people from all over the world can come.” PM Modi quickly responded, saying that he also has thought about it.

“I have been thinking for many years, but now I am doing it. Waves. My idea is, such a big country, and most of the world’s films are made here. The biggest creative industry in the world is here. So I am creating a big wave movement here. And I am going to unite the world’s creative world,” he said.

Additionally, Diljit Dosanjh discussed his successful Dil-Luminati Tour, which concluded on December 31 with a show in Ludhiana.
